About The Merchant's House

The former Grapes Hotel is a 17th Century Inn. Formally a merchants house (hence the new name), it is situated in the heart of the historic Market Place of Longnor. The Grapes was previously The Butchers Arms from 1860 to 1866 where it then became known as The Grapes Hotel.

We took over the use of Longnor Craft Centre & Coffee Shop in January 2019. After a short closure for some refurbishment, we relaunched as The Merchant's House Kitchen on Friday 22nd March, 2019.

We have a modern rustic approach in both decor and food. Serving cask ales, craft beer and fine wines all supplied locally.

Open log fire's and a warm relaxed atmosphere, its the place to socialise, read a book, unwind or just simply relax.

All are welcome, even those with muddy boots, dogs and children.

Further works are planned to return The Merchant's House Hotel & Bar back to a hotel, so watch this space for more updates!

We are a stones throw away from Buxton, Bakewell and Leek.
